What is a Custom Orthotic?
A custom-made orthotic provides individualized structural support to help correct and align the foot. This helps eliminate the strain that misalignment in the feet can cause all through your body. Custom-made orthotics offer comfort and support and can be designed to fit comfortably in your footwear as an insole.
Who can benefit with Custom Orthotics?
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Flat Feet
- Morton’s Toe
- Knee Pain (Chondromalacia Patella aka runner’s knee, Patella Femoral Syndrome)
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Forefoot pain (metatarsalgia)
- Heel Pain (heel spur)
- Shin Pain (Compartment syndrome, Shin Splints)
- Hip Pain (IT band syndrome)
All of these can be addressed and corrected with the use of custom orthotics. Many other conditions can be addressed. Just ask!
What kinds of Orthotics are available?
We offer a wide variety of orthotics designed to accommodate your lifestyle. Our orthotics come in a variety of thicknesses and lengths for certain lifestyles, activities, and sports. During the assessment, our team will discuss with you and determine the best suitable orthotic solution.
Will my insurance cover Orthotics?
Most insurance companies cover some, if not all, of the cost of custom orthotics when deemed medically necessary. Please contact your insurance company for more information.
Do I need to bring a doctor's note?
Yes, for insurance purposes, a doctor’s note or physician’s prescription is mandatory to validate the purpose of your orthotics treatment. OrthoPlus Group will work directly with you to create the best solution for your foot condition. Your physician’s diagnosis is important to our treatment plan.
What do I have to ask the insurance company?
Here are a few questions that we recommend you ask your insurance company:
- Does my insurance plan cover custom-made orthotics?
- Is my insurance plan based on calendar year or benefit year?
- How many pairs am I covered for during each plan period?
- What percentage is covered (100% or partial)?
- What is the maximum payable ($ dollar amount) per pair, per year?
What happens during an assessment?
We start by conducting a thorough assessment of the health of your feet. This starts by learning about your day-to-day activities, conducting a gait analysis and biomechanical evaluation, and listening carefully to any other concerns might you have.
With this information, our team will provide you with treatment options and the best custom orthotic for your needs. We will then offer you customization options according to your shoe and foot type. We create a three dimensional mold of your feet that we then use to create your orthotic.
The entire assessment is designed to be quick, enjoyable, and painless!
